Antique Work Table Kitchen Island

A distinctive antique work table that would make a beautiful freestanding kitchen island. Its six-foot work surface, warm wood tones, and bank of eight drawers offer a combination of practical storage and the character of an antique.

Sourced from a New York firm, the piece bears the label of Economy Drawing Table Co. of Toledo, Ohio. Two deeper upper drawers sit above six wide, shallow flat-file drawers, each accented with dark metal cup pulls. The shallow drawers lend themselves beautifully to linens, flatware, and serving utensils.

An open knee space at one end offers room to pull up a stool, while the paneled back makes the piece attractive from across the room. Its worn surface and softened edges would bring warmth and history to a kitchen with painted cabinetry, natural stone, and collected furnishings.
